Summary "The work in this research project was aimed at designing a Downhole Electromagnetic Shear Wave Generator capable of delivering a wide frequency band, random, continuous signal. This Exciter was built using a compressed-air driven piston assembly for downhole application. The device was tested in the laboratory in a concrete test facility. It proved to be capable of transmitting a continuous, measurable stress into the concrete in a 100 to 5,000 hertz frequency band"--Abstract, leaf ii.
