Summary "Several compounds containing the complex tetrachlorocuprate(II) anion, CuClâ‚„[superscript =], and various alkyl or aryl cations were prepared. These include bis(methylammonium)tetrachlorocuprate(II), bis(isopropylammoniumtetrachlorocuprate(II), 1,3-propanediammoniumtetrachlorocuprate(II), bis(furfuryl-ammonium)tetrachlorocuprate(II), and a series of ethylene ammonium salts. Some unsuccessful and difficult preparations are described. Spectra were taken in acetone, 4-butyrolactone, and methanol. An explanation of the effects of various solvents on the absorption spectrum and structure of the complex ion is given"--Abstract, leaf ii.
