| Summary |
"The purpose of this investigation was to ascertain whether the more important iron ores of Missouri would be amenable to beneficiation to produce high grade concentrates. In the southeastern section of Missouri are found many small deposits of high grade iron ores, and a few large deposits of comparatively low grade ore. The former consist chiefly of red and brown hematite and limonite ores that are in no need of beneficiation. the low grade iron orebodies are relatively large in extent, and, if they could be beneficiated successully [sic] and economically would be of value. Accordingly, the major portion of the investigation has been devoted to the beneficiation of these latter low grade ores. Particular attention has been given to the specular hematite at Iron Mountain, Missouri. Pilot Knob ores were also studied"--Object, leaf 2. |
