Summary "It is to be hoped that in the perusal of this short discussion, the idea will not be lost sight of that the work has been done by a novice - probably a needless caution as the fact is patent at every step. Again, while the work is supposed to be laid along practical lines, no attempt has been made to abbreviate and show merely what is absolutely necessary. As the subject is treated as a thesis and not as a proposition to contractors, the attempt has been made to show the method of arriving at conclusions, and when necessary to use formulate their derivation is shown unless entirely empirical in their nature...When a new mine is to be equipped, it is desirable to place on the property machinery suitable for the purpose of development and to block out the ground as expeditiously as possible"--leaf 1.
