Summary "In this paper, a boundary effect is explored to improve the accuracy of the surface fitting results, especially of the orientation parameters. This investigation tells that the error of the orientation estimation can be decreased by improving the point density close to the profile boundary of the measured geometry. This effect is proven to exist in the measurement of the line, plane, cylinder, cone and sphere when Linear Least Squares fitting algorithms are employed.--Summary, p. 31.
