"Modelling and control of dc power systems is a topic of great interest to industry and the military. In particular, such systems are used in submarines, ships, electric and hybrid commercial and tactical vehicles, and more electric aircraft. It has been stated that each subsystem must be designed soley with respect to the rest of the system in order to guarantee system stability. However, it will be shown here that stand alone design works if a higher level stabilizing controller is used to maintain system stability. This thesis examines the analysis and control of dc power systems in the context of a small but representative system constructed using University of Missouri-Rolla laboratory facilities."--Abstract, leaf iii. |
