| Summary |
"The objective of this research program was to determine the effectiveness of using the composite materials to strengthen the simulated corroded steel members to regain the original design flexural capacity. The most important factor that would affect this retrofit technique was the bond behavior between composite material and the steel surface. To study the bond behavior, pull-out tests were conducted with different materials on steel surface (Frauenberger, 2003) to evaluate the bond stresses which were essential to carry out the analytical study and design procedure. Study of the failure modes of retrofited specimen was another important criteria essential to evaluate the degree of safety associated with this retrofit procedure for design purposes."--Introduction, leaf 5. |
