Summary "The thesis describes a laboratory setup and control of a Would Rotor Induction Machine (WRIM) when applied for the specific purpose of wind power generation. A 2 hp wound rotor induction machine driven by a 2 hp DC shunt motor is used to simulate a variable speed wind conversion unit. Vector control of the would rotor induction machine is achieved using IGBT converters. Wind power is variable in nature and the varying nature is simulated by controlling the speed of the prime mover (DC motor)"--Abstract, leaf iii.
