Summary "The Laser Aided Manufacturing Processes (LAMP) developed at the University of Missouri-Rolla are used to fabricate three dimensional metal and ceramic parts. The part material is supplied in the form of powder, and the laser is used to melt the powder onto a substrate. Layer-by-layer addition is done to build fully functional metal parts directly from a CAD model. The laser scans the substrate and deposits the part according to the slices, and then the 5-axis machine process finishes the part to near net shape. This thesis describes the experimental analysis done for modeling and control purposes of the Laser Aided Deposition Process"--Abstract, leaf iii.
