Summary "Distributed generation (DG) has the ability to provide solutions to much of the energy challenges faced today, such as power quality and reliability. In the last decade, a number o factors including technological innovations along with a changing economic and regulatory environment has increased interest in distributed generation. A lot of research is being carried out to determine the effects that the various forms of DG technologies have on the electrical grid. These devices affect the dynamic behavior of the power system that they are part of. In order tocarry out system studies with DG, accurate models of the DG systems are required. In this thesis. dynamic models of the DG systems such as a photovoltaic system, a fuel cell system, and a microturbine system are presented. These models are built in PSCAD 4.0.1. Model validation is carried out and then the models are tested with various loads"--Abstract, leaf iii.
