| Summary |
"This work focuses on three different aspects of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) wireless communication. An expression for the capacity is derived under Rayleigh fading when the transmitter has knowledge of the channel, and also when only the receiver knows the statistics of the channel. Next we discuss the concept of sending training symbols to estimate the channel when it has a specular component as well as a diffuse component. We find through simulation optimal training times and block lengths for a number of situations. Finally, we examine sending quantized channel state information (CSI) to the transmitter, to perform a pre-coding operation followed by a post-shaping operation at the receiver. The performance of this system is measured as a function of the CSI resolution"--Abstract, leaf iii. |
