Summary "Functionally gradient materials can be used to make revolutionary advances in mechanical engineering and metallurgy. Specifically, the technologies involved with Titanium 6Al-4V are being developed that would benefit greatly from the proper application of functionally gradient materials. Through these experiments, it will be shown that functionally gradient materials can be used to create many different types of material structures and coatings. The main purpose for this experiment is to determine the best process parameters for the laser engineered net shaping of Ti6Al-4V and H13 tool steel functionally gradient material"--Abstract, leaf iii.
