| Summary |
"Traditional methods of producing dental bars for overdentures involve tedious and time-consuming operations that demand more human intervention and high skill. In this digital era, though there exist several CAD/CAM systems that have been developed for various dental restorations like bridges, crowns, copings, veneers, brackets etc., at present there exists no commercial CAD/CAM system for dental bar design and fabrication. To automate the processes of designing dental bars, a method along with a software package called Dentabyte has been developed by Dr. Ming Leu and his research assistants at the University of Missouri-Rolla. This software was capable of designing dental bars for 3 and 4 implants. The main purpose of this research is to extend the Dentabyte software to design dental bars for five implants and to evaluate processes for making physical dental bars from the designs generated by the software"--Abstract, leaf iii. |
