Summary "Wireless sensor networks (WSN's) have recently come to the forefront of research due to proposed uses in commercial, industrial, and military applications. Sensor nodes, however, are typically considered to be resource constrained and many of the WSN applications may require the sensor nodes to be deployed in hostile settings where adversaries can capture and reprogram the sensor nodes. These characteristics of WSN's require that secure, robust, and energy-efficient routing and security protocols must be implemented for these networks to be feasible. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient, hybrid key management (EHKM) protocol and a secure, optimized, energy-delay, subnetwork routing (SOEDSR) protocol that mitigates the effects of black holes in a WSN"--Abstract, leaf iv.
