Summary "In this project, health effects and exposure data were researched and compiled from a wide array of publicly available sources to complete a characterization of the potential risk for possible use in Drinking Water Contaminant Regulations. An initial literature review provided a list of roughly 2,500 compounds of interest to the Drinking Water Industry. This list was reduced to roughly 500 compounds for which a pair of necessary data points could be located, and then further reduced to 300 to accommodate the normalization method chosen. Through normalization of the assorted data types, their values were adjusted onto a consistent scale. In this manner, the data could be directly compared to provide a more complete picture of the potential risk of the compounds...In the end, this project proved effective in providing a convenient and effective representation of risk for chemicals and chemical groups, and demonstrated the applicability of this risk incides method in what amounted to a pilot scale system"--Abstract, leaf iii.
